Marcus, an unusually old western Monarch butterfly, needs help in protecting the grove of eucalyptus trees in California where the butterflies spend the winter. He approaches a young girl, Natalia, and hopes she can understand him when he tells her about the problem.  She is surprised that she can hear him and they can actually talk to each other! They come up with a plan, involving Marcus's friends as well as Natalia's brother, sister and community, that they hope will stop the destruction of The Grove.
